Hi, I’m Dave Sobel. I started tattooing in 1990 in Los Angeles. I was apprenticed by Miss Kim at a small shop in Venice called Venice Rocks.
I work in virtually all styles, although overall my favorite is traditional Japanese. And I love doing small walk-in tattoos.
I helped to make traditional American tattoos mainstream again in the mid 1990’s, and helped to bring a more traditional approach to Japanese style tattoos in the late 90’s and early 2,000’s. I’m currently expanding my practice of tebori, the traditional method of hand poked Japanese tattooing after a long hiatus due to chronic tendonitis and am looking forward to doing much more.
